A major heritage preservation project is set to transform the travel landscape in Singapore's historic urban center, offering a new model for extended-stay travelers. Under this Singapore Civic District heritage hotel development, the former Stamford Court is launching as Stamford Place in September 2026. Located at the corner of Stamford Road and Hill Street, the mixed-use precinct integrates serviced apartments, coworking hubs, design galleries, and dining venues to create a complete lifestyle destination.

Historic Civic District Integrates Modern Urban Living

Stamford Place represents a major project in adaptive reuse, preserving the architectural identity of a historic landmark while updating it for modern use. The site has a long history, starting in the 1920s as Eu Court, an Art Deco apartment building commissioned by the local philanthropist and entrepreneur Eu Tong Sen. The building was later transformed into Stamford Court, recognized for its clock tower.

The modern redesign was led by the Singapore-based firm Ministry of Design in collaboration with Zarch Collaborative, with the interior layouts drawing inspiration from the building's clock tower and heritage. The development is positioned to strengthen the Civic District's status as a lifestyle hub, linking historic landmarks with modern commercial facilities to attract longer-stay visitors.

The accommodation model features APT., a new serviced apartment concept offering 66 design-led residences. The serviced apartments are designed to attract corporate travelers, families, and digital nomads seeking neighborhood-style living in the city center. The central location provides guests with convenient access to commercial areas, shopping centers, and cultural monuments.

To support business and remote work trends, Stamford Place includes shared workspaces managed by The Great Room by Industrious. Spanning approximately 30,000 square feet across Levels Two and Three, the coworking facility integrates business amenities with hospitality services, allowing travelers to work and live within the same complex.
