Australian travelers can now earn Everyday Rewards points on foreign currency transactions through a new partnership with Travelex. The loyalty program allows nearly 11 million members to collect points when buying foreign cash or loading currency cards.

Consumer loyalty programs are expanding into the travel and financial services sectors to provide customers with broader earning opportunities. By integrating rewards systems with foreign exchange transactions, travelers can offset everyday household costs using points accumulated during vacation planning.

This partnership reflects growing consumer interest in maximizing value from necessary pre-travel expenditures.

Loyalty Integration: Earning Points on Foreign Exchange Transactions

Travelex Australia has established a commercial partnership with Everyday Rewards, one of Australia's largest customer loyalty programs. The collaboration enables registered members to earn points on qualifying foreign exchange purchases and currency card transactions.

Asokan Sathurayar, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at Travelex, noted that the initiative aims to deliver tangible value to travelers by connecting currency services with everyday savings on groceries and fuel.

The program allows consumers to receive rewards for transactions they must complete when organizing international itineraries.

Reward Mechanics: Accumulating Points for Everyday Discounts

The points-earning structure is designed to integrate with standard currency exchange transactions:

  • Point Accumulation Rate: Members receive 1 point for every $1 AUD exchanged through Travelex services.
  • Qualifying Transactions: Points can be earned on purchases of foreign cash, conversions of leftover foreign notes back into Australian dollars, and funds loaded onto the Travelex Money Card (TMC).
  • Discount Threshold: Every 2,000 points collected can be redeemed for a $10 AUD discount at Woolworths, BIG W, Healthylife, and other participating retail partners.

Strategic Objectives: Expanding Beyond Traditional Retail Programs

Integrating travel services with local reward programs represents a strategic shift for both brands. For Travelex, the program provides a competitive advantage in the retail foreign exchange sector by incentivizing customers to manage their currency needs through its branches and digital channels.

For Everyday Rewards, which serves nearly 11 million members, the expansion into travel finance broadens the scope of its earning network.

Hannah Ross, Managing Director of Everyday Rewards, explained that members are increasingly seeking ways to stretch their budgets, making travel-related transactions a valuable category for points accumulation.

Traveler Guidelines: How to Claim Points In-Store and Online

To ensure points are credited correctly to your loyalty account:

  • In-Store Purchases: Scan your physical Everyday Rewards card or the digital card via the mobile app at the point-of-sale terminal when completing a currency exchange at a Travelex branch.
  • Online Transactions: Enter your 13-digit Everyday Rewards membership number during the checkout sequence when purchasing currency on the Travelex website.
  • Check Currency Terms: Verify exchange rates, transaction fees, and card terms before finalizing purchases, as points are calculated based on the net AUD transaction value.

Future Projections for Travel Finance and Consumer Loyalty Programs

The partnership between travel currency providers and retail loyalty networks points to a growing integration of consumer services. Over the coming years, corporate partnerships will continue to link lifestyle spending with everyday domestic savings.

By upgrading digital card integrations and offering seasonal bonus points, loyalty programs help consumers mitigate travel inflation. These collaborations ensure that major pre-travel expenses, such as foreign currency purchases, provide direct financial benefits to households back home.
