United Airlines Launches Nonstop Milan to Washington Dulles Route for Summer 2027

United Airlines will launch a seasonal nonstop service between Milan Malpensa and Washington Dulles starting May 29, 2027, restoring a direct transatlantic flight connection after a gap of more than 24 years.

Reconnecting Milan and the US Capital Region

The new direct route from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Washington Dulles (IAD) is scheduled to operate three times weekly during the summer season, pending government approval. The launch restores the sole direct air bridge between Milan and the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, which has been unserved since the early 2000s.

The route is designed to benefit corporate passengers, government visitors, and international students, as well as leisure travelers. Reaching United's international hub at Washington Dulles provides passengers with convenient onward connections to more than 110 destinations across the Americas, including almost 90 locations in the United States.

The addition of the Washington route expands United's transatlantic network in Italy. The carrier already operates daily flights from Milan Malpensa to Newark/New York and Chicago O'Hare.
