Amman Aircraft Maintenance Provider Joramco Partners with Jordan Ministry of Youth to Expand Regional Aviation Engineering Training Programs

Amman-based aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility Joramco has partnered with the Jordanian Ministry of Youth. The cooperation agreement will support technical training and promote aviation engineering careers.

The Core Transit Update

Official updates from the Jordan Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) highlight the role of technical support programs in maintaining regional fleet flightworthiness. To address the demand for certified technicians, Joramco has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jordan's Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Sami Al Adwan, and DAE Engineering Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer Fraser Currie.

Joramco, the engineering division of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), operates its primary facility at Queen Alia International Airport. Under the new agreement, the MRO provider will fund community development programs, including upgrading the Deir Alla Youth Centre, and run educational awareness sessions regarding aviation engineering across Jordan's governorates.

Joramco MRO Facility and Community Framework

The operational metrics and community components of Joramco's aviation framework include:

Operational Component Facility Location / Scope Core Target Activity Training & Community Focus
MRO Hangar Complex Queen Alia International (AMM) Commercial aircraft maintenance and repair EASA and CARC certified technician development
Deir Alla Youth Centre Jordan Valley Region Infrastructure upgrades and facility funding Local community training and computer labs

Traveler Logistics Guide (Information Gain)

For international travelers transiting through Amman or visiting Jordan's historic sites:

  • Queen Alia Airport (AMM) Layout: Queen Alia International Airport is the primary base for Royal Jordanian and serves as a major transit hub in the Levant. The airport features a single terminal divided into North and South piers, making transit connections straightforward.
  • Optimal Transit Layover Window: If connecting between international flights at AMM, plan a transfer window of at least 2 hours. This allows sufficient time to clear transit security and walk to the next departure gate without rushing.
  • Transit Hotels and Lounges: Passengers with layovers exceeding 6 hours can check into the airport transit hotel located inside the duty-free area, or access the Royal Jordanian Crown Lounge (complimentary for business class or via pay-per-entry programs).
  • Entering Jordan (Jordan Pass): If you plan to leave the airport to visit Amman or Petra during a long layover, purchase the Jordan Pass online before departure. The pass waives entry visa fees if you stay in the country for at least three nights and includes entry to over 40 tourist sites.

Infrastructure and Regional Flight Operations Impact

Expanding local MRO capabilities in Amman directly improves regional flight operations. By training a larger pool of certified aircraft maintenance engineers, Joramco can reduce service turnaround times for regional carriers, helping to prevent delays caused by technical scheduling issues.

The partnership supports Jordan's national transit strategy to establish Amman as a center for aviation engineering and technical services in the Middle East. Improving local technical skills increases the self-sufficiency of the regional transport network.
